Cosmos

you seem to float
in my young eyes
you kiss the ceilings,
you know the clouds by name.

you rise,

and I watch from below.
should I reach for your hand?
and would you teach me about the cosmos?

But
you would be so heavy in my arms.
you would cripple my knees
and as they hit the Earth
they would crack it
and I would fall with you
into the bones
of the planet
and we would rattle in its skeleton
together.

I thought that we would dance
among the freckles of the galaxy?
